Lich: The Dark wizard, God of Death
The Lich (Mephisto) is a dark tall creature often seen in a purple robe with pale skin that is parchment white. He is mistaken for a vampire when his hood is on for his calming voice and often soothing attitude as he brings the souls of the living into the Ever After. However should one remove his hood, the skull that is hidden shall bring terror to every living creature, an unfortunate side effect to subdue wild souls.
Lich is a powerful wizard using Necromancy in less expected ways. Namely for those not "due" in his book, he removes illness and strife to the body enough for the person to survive. It is rare to happen however. Due to the medical uses of his abilities he visits children who are dying of illness and cures them more times than he should.
Lich’s hobbies include entertaining children and elderly. Many elders will already meet Lich before they die and thus are less likely to flee him when it is time. Lich also enjoys playing games of many kinds, but will never grant a chance at life in exchange for beating him. He will however grant the winner a chance to speak to someone who either needs them or they need to resolve woe in their souls. This brings more souls to Peace and though the Winners don’t know it, he often loses on purpose.
Lich is a strong believer in Fate, and that Fate has more than two hands. He is Death, while he also believes his other higher order beings are Life, Fortune, Suffering, and Chance. He has yet to figure out which Gods and Goddesses belong to these hands as he mostly avoids the rest.
Most would think, as a master necromancer, undeath and zombies were his to control, but they are his greatest failure. Once in his youth he tried to remove the need for souls to be "reaped" and let them pass on their own. But instead the body continued to exist with a fragment of the soul intact, so while the organs failed and the body rotted, he could not assist in bringing them to Peace or Judgment because they existed but were not alive.
From the birth of undeath, many necromancers claimed to perfect the intent made by Lich with bodies that no longer rotted, and even more horribly bodies once deceased pulling the souls back from Peace. These Necromancers would continue to defy the true order of the world, and though death could strike the living ones he could never bring himself to kill...Well until it was their time, then he tended to play games for amusement at their expense.
While too many mages and minds over the world, Necromancy was a blessing, the introduction of necromancy is also a failure in his eyes. While he believes in teaching the world, Death's Hands were never meant to leave his grasp. As a form of solace for his failure to the world, anyone who dies from necromancy or undead he grants them the ability to say goodbye to one person, a closure not everyone is granted as it sooths his wounded heart.
When not on duty Lich uses illusion powers to appear human in a body he named Mal. Lich says this form is called Mal, so he can say that “Mal is your pal,” Though besides a bad joke no other reason is given. Mal loses his necromantic abilities to hide his identity, but enjoys using illusions to play pranks. The true reason to this form is to bring joy into life, as souls that have full lives can be reborn without losing enough materials to require a second soul be used to make a new one. The second reason he says is that he is empowered by laughter and smiles.
